Brief introduction to traffic exchanges and Safelists.

1) What is Traffic Exchange? What is Safelist?
Most listed programs on Best Free Traffic Sites can be divided in two main groups: Traffic Exchanges and Safelists.
Traffic Exchanges work on a simple principle of exchanging page views. Main currency on traffic exchanges are credits. When you enter into traffic exchange you can earn credits by visiting other members websites for a specific time period (mostly 10 seconds). After you are done with viewing one site, you can proceed to the next website. That's how you earn credits. Then you can use those credits to 'pay' for visits to your website. Your website will be viewed by other members until your credits run out.
Safelists use similar concept. Only you don't view other websites inside a program (like on traffic exchanges), instead you receive e-mail ads from other members to your e-mail address. Inside those e-mail ads there is a link to advertised program. When you click that link inside an e-mail ad you are redirected to advertised website and you earn credits at the same time. Then you can use those credits to send your e-mail ad to other members. WARNING! Safelists send many e-mails (thousands of members can send you their e-mail ads), so don't use your primary e-mail address to register on safelists. I recommend that you open dedicated Gmail account just for safelists. You can go to that account online and go through e-mails ads that you receive. You don't have to read all e-mail ads that you receive, you can scan subjects that interest you. But other members can skip your e-mail ads too, the same way. That's why e-mail subject lines are very important when using safelists.
2) How can I get traffic to my website?
Join a few sites from the list and USE them. It's not enough just to join the sites. Not many things will happen by themselves. Especially traffic to your website. Here is a similar situation: if you want to advertise your website by handing out leaflets, then it isn't enough just to print leaflets. You must do some footwork too.
3) Be persistent!
You can't expect wonders in 3 days or a week. You must be persistent to get results. Coca-Cola can afford to spend billions on advertising. You probably chose free advertising sites, because you don't want to spend much money or any at all. So you have to spend something else. You have to invest some time. So it's true, time is money. Also, you can buy credits on these sites and it will save you time. It's up to you to decide what works the best for you.
4) Be smart about it!
Most things you can do the right way or the wrong way. Same thing here. Most of these sites have timers. Other people will see your website for usually 10 seconds. So if you have a website with lots of graphics that loads for 15 seconds, ask yourself what will happen. The answer is NOTHING! Nobody will even see your website. So, you should use a page that loads quickly. Also, you should use big font and a piece of nice graphics that catches the eye. So big text, nice graphics, quick loading. Such pages are called splash pages. They are something like billboards beside roads. When you're driving, billboard ads have only a short time to catch your attention. Would you notice a lot of text in small print while driving?
Other thing that you might consider is who uses these sites. Most people are here to advertise their websites. So you will have better chance to sell marketing e-book or computer software than a car.
